TOKE, ТОКЕ, TRANS ONEGO KITE ENDURO

Tens of thousands of Karelian lakes and rivers seem to be made for sliding on their perfectly

smoothly frozen surface under a kite’s cupol. 

And it is to one of the largest of them, lake Onego (which locals sometimes call sea) that constant

wind attract those who love speed and adrenaline.

It’s not by chance that within already five years the international enduro-kiting competitions TOKE «TransOnego» are held on Onego lake, gathering dozens of Russian and foreign sportsmen.

But this year everything concearning Russian kiting is more large-scale and grandious.

The race will be longer and the distance will be more complicated.

The race participants will visit ancient Kizhi, the wonderous island included into UNESCO World Heritage List, with its wooden churches and bell-towers, fancy Karelian wood karving that has no equals anywhere in the world.

The final of the race does not end the grand kite-events in Karelia.

TOKE TransOnego organizers and Tourist Informational Center of Republic Karelia

bring a great celebration to all the guests and citizens of Petrozavodsk.

Some things are kept in secret, but it is known now that on March 4-5 2017 on the Onego lake’s embankment

there will be a big celebration where performances of international teams will be artfully combined

with the motives of Karelian Epics and creative actions of young Karelian artists and designers.

All that means that such an event mustn’t be ignored.
